A mini computer, or mini PC, is a small desktop computer. It has the same parts as a full-size PC: a processor, memory (RAM), storage (SSD), and ports for display, network and peripherals. Because the parts are compact, a mini PC takes up little desk space and can be mounted behind a monitor or on a VESA bracket. Most mini PCs run a standard operating system such as Windows 11 Pro or Ubuntu Linux.
How a Mini PC Works
The processor runs the operating system and applications. The RAM holds data that is in active use, and the SSD stores the operating system, software and files. A DC power adapter supplies power, which is why many mini PCs use an external adapter such as a 12V 7A or 19V 3A unit instead of a large internal power supply. Wireless connectivity is optional on many models, so some are sold with Dual Band WiFi and others with no WiFi.

Common Uses
Mini PCs suit office work, point-of-sale terminals, digital signage, kiosks, machine control, and compact home or lab setups. Embedded models such as the Micro 6 Pro with an ARM Cortex A55 processor are used where low power and a small footprint matter most.
Thinvent Mini PCs
Thinvent has mini PCs for different workloads. The Thinvent Aero Mini PC range includes Intel Core i3-1215U, Core i5-1335U, Core i7-1255U and Core Ultra 5 125U processors. The Thinvent Treo Mini PC range includes AMD Ryzen 5 7430U and Intel N5095A models. The Thinvent Micro 6 Pro Mini PC uses an ARM Cortex A55 processor with Thinux Embedded Linux.
