125Vcc - 125Vdc Power Supply Guide for Industrial Computers

What Does "125Vcc" Mean?

"125Vcc" is a notation commonly used in French- and Spanish-language technical documentation, where Vcc (Volts courant continu / voltios corriente continua) means DC voltage — the equivalent of Vdc in English. So a "125Vcc" rating refers to a 125 V DC supply or signal level. This appears in industrial and marine electrical equipment such as rack-mount DC power supplies (for example, units with a 115 Vac input and an adjustable 125 Vdc, 4 A / 500 W output used in relay testing benches), conductive level relay/controllers rated for 85–240 Vac or 125 Vdc inputs, Schneider Electric coil references, and DC energy meters for DIN rail mounting.

In other words, 125 Vdc is a station battery / control bus voltage class widely used in substations, switchgear, marine and railway systems. It is a power-source specification, not a computer specification — which is why it rarely appears on standard mini PC or thin client datasheets.

Why 125 Vdc Matters in Industrial Computing

Industrial facilities with 110/125 Vdc station batteries often want computing equipment that can be powered directly from that DC bus, avoiding extra AC inverters and their failure points. The practical requirement is therefore not "a 125 Vdc PC" but a computer whose DC input stage can accept the available voltage range, or a DC-DC converter that steps the 125 Vdc bus down to the 12 V or 19 V that the computer expects.

Approach Typical Input Notes
AC adapter (standard) 100–240 Vac Simplest; needs AC socket or inverter
Wide-input DC-DC converter 110–125 Vdc → 12 V Common in substation/telecom racks
Direct DC-input PC 9–36 Vdc or 12 Vdc Requires matching the bus voltage externally

When specifying a computer for a 125 Vdc environment, check three things: the adapter input range, whether the site provides a DC-DC conversion stage, and the isolation and surge protection appropriate to a high-voltage DC bus.

Selection Checklist for DC-Powered Deployments

  • Voltage matching: confirm the DC-DC stage output matches the PC's adapter input (commonly 12 V, 5 A for compact fanless mini PCs).

  • Cooling: fanless, ventless chassis resist conductive dust and reduce maintenance in electrical rooms.

  • Mounting: DIN-rail or VESA mounting suits control panels and kiosks.

  • OS image: Windows 11 Pro/IoT, Linux or a no-OS configuration lets you deploy your own stack.

  • Connectivity: dual Gigabit Ethernet and multiple USB 3.2 ports support SCADA, HMI and edge-gateway roles.

Typical Applications

Computers deployed alongside 125 Vdc infrastructure are usually found as SCADA and HMI nodes, substation gateways, data concentrators, relay-test-bench controllers, marine bridge or engine-room terminals, and railway signalling workstations. In each case the machine must tolerate wide temperature swings, vibration and electrical noise while running 24×7.

Thinvent Products for DC and Industrial Power Environments

Thinvent builds fanless industrial computers, mini PCs, thin clients and all-in-one PCs designed for control rooms, panels and kiosks. Our Aero Mini PC family, for example, runs on a 12 V 5 A DC adapter, uses Intel® processors with 4 cores up to 2.9 GHz, and offers 16 GB DDR4 RAM with 128 GB SSD storage — a practical base for pairing with a 125 Vdc-to-12 Vdc converter in station-battery installations. Options include Windows 11 Pro/IoT, embedded Linux or no OS, so you can standardise the image across a fleet. If your site runs a 110/125 Vdc bus, talk to us about the right adapter and converter combination for your deployment.
