New CPU 高性能ファンレスミニPcとインテルN100搭載コンパクトPc - Fanless Mini PCs with New Intel N100 CPU

What "Fanless" and "New CPU" Mean Together

A fanless mini PC uses passive cooling — a metal chassis that acts as a heatsink — instead of a spinning fan. This removes the only moving part in most computers, so there is no dust intake, no bearing noise, and no fan to wear out. The trade-off has historically been performance, because fanless designs must dissipate heat through the enclosure alone. Newer low-power processors have changed that balance: chips like the Intel® N100 are designed to run fast within a small thermal envelope, which makes them a natural fit for compact, silent, dust-resistant systems.

Inside the Intel® N100

The Intel® N100 is part of Intel's Alder Lake-N family, built on Intel 7 process technology. It pairs four Efficient-cores (E-cores) with a burst frequency up to 3.4 GHz and a 6 MB cache, with a base power of just 6 W. It includes Intel® UHD Graphics with 24 execution units, supports DDR4 and DDR5 memory, and handles dual 4K display output. Because it is a 6 W part, a well-designed aluminium enclosure can dissipate its heat without any fan at all — even in a sealed, dust-proof chassis.

Where Fanless N100 Systems Fit

Fanless N100 mini PCs are used as point-of-sale terminals, digital signage players, kiosk controllers, thin client endpoints for VDI, light industrial gateways, and always-on home or office desktops. The absence of a fan matters most in dusty workshops, food-processing areas, clinics, and retail floors, where airborne particles would otherwise clog a conventional cooling system within months. Silent operation also suits libraries, meeting rooms, and bedside or clinical settings. With 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM and an SSD, an N100 system comfortably handles browsing, office suites, remote desktop sessions, IP camera viewing, and 4K video playback.

Choosing the Right Configuration

For thin client and VDI duty, 8 GB of RAM and a 128 GB or 256 GB SSD is usually sufficient, since the heavy work happens on the server. For a standalone desktop or signage player, 16 GB and a 512 GB SSD give more headroom. Look for a fanless chassis rated for wide temperature operation, dual display outputs, and 1000 Mbps Ethernet. If you need more compute than the N100 offers — for example, running local databases or multiple virtual machines — step up to a low-power Intel® Core™ i3 such as the i3-1215U, which still fits fanless or semi-fanless industrial designs.

Thinvent's Fanless and Compact Range

Thinvent builds fanless mini PCs, industrial computers, thin clients, and all-in-one PCs around both Intel® N-series processors and Intel® Core™ i3/i5 platforms. The IPC3 industrial PC, for example, runs an Intel® Core™ i3-1215U (6 cores, up to 4.4 GHz, 10 MB cache) with up to 16 GB DDR4 RAM and a 1 TB SSD, available with Windows 11 Pro, Thinux™ Embedded Linux, or without an OS, and optional quad DB9 serial ports for machine and equipment connectivity. For lighter workloads, Thinvent's N100-based compact fanless systems deliver silent, dust-tolerant operation for kiosks, signage, POS, and thin client deployments worldwide.
