What Is a Small Computer PC?
A small computer PC is a fully functional computer built into a chassis that takes up a fraction of the space of a traditional desktop tower — usually somewhere between 0.5 and 3 litres of volume, and often small enough to mount behind a monitor, under a desk, or inside a control cabinet. The category covers several distinct product types: mini PCs, thin clients, industrial PCs, and all-in-one PCs. What they share is a compact footprint, low power draw (typically 12–36 W), and usually quiet or completely silent operation thanks to fanless cooling.
"Small" does not mean "weak". Modern compact systems use the same Intel® processor families found in laptops and desktops — from efficient Celeron® and Intel® Processor N-series chips (J4125, N95, N100, N150) for everyday tasks, up to Intel® Core™ i3 and i5 processors such as the i3-1215U (6 cores, up to 4.4 GHz, 10 MB cache) for multi-tasking, virtualisation and industrial workloads. Memory typically ranges from 4 GB to 64 GB DDR4/DDR5, and storage is almost always solid-state, from 128 GB up to 1 TB or more.
